Ruth Ann's Strawberry Shortcake
3 cups flour
1/4 cup sugar
1 tbsp. Plus 2-1/4 tsp. baking powder
3/4 tsp. salt
3/4 cup shortening
3/4 cup milk
Combine first 4 ingredients. Cut in shortening with pastry blender. Combine egg and milk. Add to flour mixture, stirring until moistened. Knead 8 to 10 times. Pat into a 9" round greased pan. Bake at 450 degress for 15-20 minutes. Remove from oven and pour a little melted butter over cake.
